At the same school district owned and operated event center in Garland, Texas that was the site of the “Stand with the Prophet” conference held by The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) last month. The protestors will get their turn on May 3rd to utilize The Curtis Caldwell Event Center by hosting an art contest. The accepted entries will be anything related to the Islamic Prophet Muhammad in contemporary and or historical themes.
Submissions will be accepted online as well as in person, A $10,000 prize will be announced and awarded at the event. Along with the drawings, there are guest scheduled to give speeches concerning Free Speech and the importance of the First Amendment. The organizer of the The First Annual Muhammed Art Exhibit and Contest, is the President of (AFDI) The American Freedom Defense Initiative Pamela Geller. She planned the get-together at this location specifically as she explained ” This was the site of a Muslim conference denouncing ‘Islamaphobia’,an obscene stand for them to take after the Charlie Hebdo massacre, and our Free Speech Rally outside that event”. Their justifiable reaction will be this assemblage, Geller conveyed that “This event will stand for free speech and show Americans will not be cowed by Islamic intimidation, this is a crucial stand to take as Islamic assaults on our freedom of speech, our most fundamental freedom is growing more insistent.”
According to the (SPLC) The Southern Poverty Law Center website she is listed as an “Extremist” and labeled as “the anti-Muslim movement’s most visible and flamboyant figurehead.” The SPLC also categorizes American Freedom Defense Initiative a ‘Hate Group’. She stated ” The media can smear us and the President can stand with them but enough is enough” as in the Paris attacks on the Cartoon Journalists. Geller said “They’re just cartoons. We’re holding this exhibit and cartoon contest to show how insane the world has become, with people in the free world tiptoeing around in terror around supremacist thugs who actually commit murder over cartoons. If we can’t stand up for the freedom of speech, we will lose it, and with it, a free society.”She continued on her rant,” If the western media ran the Danish cartoons back when this Islamic supremacist movement first started gaining steam, the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo would be alive today, the European press ran the Hebdo cartoons in the wake of the jihad slaughter. The American press would not, beacon of freedom, the shining light on a hill, is running scared,
Well, that’s not who we are, The elites do not represent the people.” The activist and author possessing many fans, Gellar has been diligent in her pursuit of anti-Islamic rule in the United States and Europe. Back in the Summer of 2010 she led a group of an estimated 5,000 protesters to rally at the area planned to house the “Ground Zero Mosque”. That gathering was said to have caused the cancellation of the proposed build site.
When asked about the need for security at the upcoming Garland Event, she said “of course this event will require massive security, but this exhibit has to be staged. If we don’t show the jihadist that they will not frighten us into silence the jihad against freedom will only grow more virulent,” The last protest in Garland garnered approximately 2,000. Will we expect at least double that? With $10,000 on the line I see a lot more interested parties arriving. On the other hand, how many will be outside protesting this event outside? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how the pendulum swings.
