Dallas, Texas, As we reported on Wednesday the Dallas City Council has now voted to block a request by Hinga’s Automotive for a specific use permit. This final plea came after the city changed the zoning through back-door deals that the public couldn’t be a part of. The 30-year-old automotive repair shop was not even offered any compensation for the city voting to drive him and his employees off his private property. Hinga’s Automotive has received extensive support that include more than 86,000 signatures on a petition from Americans who want the city to back-off.
Dallas City Councilman Rickey Callahan who is ironically a local real estate developer gave his reasoning for his vote to steal private property. This conflict of interest city leader said that Dallas needed to use it’s power and violate the rights of people like Mr. Hinga Mbogo because that’s how they are supposed to appeal to businesses like the Macaroni Grill and Starbucks. Right after the Tyrannical vote, Bill Maurer, a senior attorney with the Institute for Justice released the following statement:
“Today, the city council said loud and clear that it has no respect for property rights. This is Texas. Property rights are supposed to be fundamental rights. Today, while many members of the city council announced their respect for private property and individual rights, they nonetheless were willing to trample individual rights to achieve their homogenized, sterile ‘vision’ for Dallas. At this point, Hinga’s only option for keeping his Ross Avenue business will be to take the city to court.”
I peeked in on Callahan’s campaign site and found some quotes to share. Former Community Prosecutor Kandace Walter says “It is the combination of rebuilding neighborhoods and economic development that are critical to building strong communities. Fortunately Rick understands both issues” Yes, it appears that he understands them very well, enough to demolish a business on private property and being able to rest his head at night with no remorse.
Cheryl Brickhouse Powell says “Rick is one of the most honorable, selfless, and caring people know, always have been and I’ve known him for 40 years, he would be such an asset to the city.” No Honor, selflessness, or caring for people exists among thieves. There is utterly no excuse for this violation of Human Rights, these city dictators who condone the removal of people and destroying their lifelong businesses are treasonous. If only the people would rise up against this in more than just small numbers, we might be able to defeat this tyranny that is exploding throughout the country and in our own backyards. Here is the video of Rickey and the Dallas city council voting to sweep away unwanted citizens who own businesses that are not palatable enough for them.
