A new marijuana dispensary in Caddo, Oklahoma will crowd source its product by paying local citizens up to $3000 a month to have an automated grow box in their home.
CitizenGrown seeks to share the profits of the budding cannabis industry with individual citizens. They say their mission is to enable everyday people to benefit from growing CG’s products in their proprietary hardware Nodes. The Nodes are a advanced automated grow box that anyone can setup and use. The growth will be tracked by the company’s software and when the product is done it will be sold through the CitizenGrown dispensary or one of their partners distribution channels. The profits will be shared with the citizen grower and they will provide additional services for financial and vocational training.
“There is a glaring unfairness in the cannabis space, both historically and right now,” says the company’s CEO, Redg Snodgrass. “At the same time there is enormous opportunity. We want to be a part of the solution here,” he continued. “In Caddo, we are building a model that can be used as an example across the country. We have the ability here to show governments and consumers how to do this right, and how everyone can prosper.”
Snodgrass believes Caddo, Ok is the perfect place to grow this business model, as one of the areas in Oklahoma hardest hit by non-violent drug offenses this could offer the people of Caddo a second change and help relieve some financial burden.
They have the backing of political figures, Silicon Valley executives and even hip hop legend Raekwon from Wu Tang Clan is a supporter of this business model and has become a Brand Ambassadors for CG. He is currently curating a line of CG products that will hit shelves this year. Alan Sollow, who is know for pioneering work with the Obama campaign is an Advisor tasked with reaching out to other city mayors, their hope is to replicate CG’s business model across the country.
