On Valentine’s Day a 20 plus group of armed police, Texas Rangers, F.B.I. and District Attorney henchmen raided a Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter in Bryan, Texas where a secessionist group was conducting a private meeting, and celebrating a birthday for one of their eldest members. They stole their computers, recording equipment, and even robbed them of cellphones. The exits were blocked and fingerprints of all in attendance were demanded.
The Republic of Texas simply demanded a Kerr County judge and a lowly bank employee to appear before their court. The group believes the state of Texas was illegally annexed by the federal government and Texas remains an independent nation under occupation.
The International Common Law Court for the Republic of Texas had issued unrecognized writs of mandamus, quo warranto, and had a subpoena, not affiliated with the county, state and federal governments.
The Republic of Texas group says that polls and tallies show overwhelming support for Texas secession from the federal government.
Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer was quoted saying “You can’t just let people go around filing false documents to judges trying to make them appear in front of courts that aren’t even real courts.” The green light given to law enforcement for this raid was not even Warranted under the Law, Hagans v Lavine 415 U. S. 533. “A judgment rendered by a court without personal jurisdiction over the defendant is void. It is a nullity.” This meeting wasn’t hurting anyone or breaking any laws but yet these warlords still strong armed these people. Just a bunch of friends having a beer and discussing their days events. The Law Enforcement officials said that the week-long stalemate that occured in April of 1997 with people somewhat connected to this same posse was trying to be averted. Republic of Texas President John Jarnecke said after the raid, “We had no idea of what was going on, we knew of nothing that would warrant such an action.” Jarnecke went on to say about the 97′ group, “We’ve had years of bad press, but we are not those people,” Jarnecke said, “But yes we are still making every attempt to get independence for Texas and we’re doing in a lawful and international manner.”
Back in 97′ the separatist group lead by Richard McLaren took two of his neighbors hostage after the known arrest of what he called a kidnapping of his Chief of Security Bob Scheidt, and another member Jo Ann Canaday in Austin sparked a barricaded stand-off just outside of Fort Davis, Texas, The hostages were released in exchange for Scheidt shortly after, then on May 3rd McLaren and his crew surrendered after being surrounded by dozens of state troopers and some members of SWAT. Robert Wilson, a senator in the Republic, compared the Washington D.C. politicians to the “kings and emperors” of the medieval times, and visions the Texas independence movement as part of a worldwide desire for local control.”This is the century for colonialist ambitions to be reversed,” the Senator said. “I’ve watched a lot of things happen, and the people of the world are fed up. The spirit of the world right now is: make things smaller, move governments closer to home, take back self-rule.”
