In another prime example of government using money for wasteful and ridiculous programs, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has just bought a very expensive iPad app that randomly displays a large arrow directing you to the right or to the left. The federal agency that is credited for being incompetent like the keystone cops, violate the civil rights of travelers on a daily basis, and habitually mismanaged funds has just thrown away $1.4 million of taxation revenue to get a randomizer application up and running.
The $1.4 million total is believed to contain the price of the iPads and getting the app to sync with other, non-iPad hand-held devices. The iPad app by itself cost $336,000, that sounds a little high but when the pot of government money is bottomless to certain companies, gouging can take place. The only positive thing to come of this is that the unbiased app can direct passengers to the right or to the left could squelch the unfair targeting and bias that TSA agents engage in.
For years and years this useless spin-off of the federal government that was only initiated as a knee-jerk reaction to the Twin Towers collapsing allegedly by terrorists in jets. The frisking, fondling and stereotyping of humans who go through these unwarranted full body physical has not yet produced a terrorist. A leaked report displayed that when some government agents were assigned to go undercover and tried to pass through TSA checkpoints at major airports like LAX and Chicago O’Hare with fake explosives. The TSA failed to discover 60 to 75% of the bombs. It was also learned that Privatized security agents only missed them about 20% of the time. I would sleep a little better on the airplane knowing that a private security company kept an eye on things.[adinserter block=”3″]
The TSA track record is not a good one and in most cases it’s a complete waste of time, takes in a lot of tax (stolen) money from Americans, and is very invasive. The shock and awe is just not there when an Administration like this can throw away taxpayer money for a randomizer. Americans are so distracted by who to select as their new master in the next election to even care. We’ll just continue on the path of destruction and let the government grow so large with wasteful spending that it’s size overlaps what is put into it. A better purchase would be to by an axe and cut this unnecessary siphon that is the TSA, forever.
